Our Analysis of This Month’s Express Entry Draws
Today’s CEC draw is the ninth Express Entry draw for July 2024, making it a record-breaking month for the number of draws held. The consistent draw schedule and decreasing CRS cut offs are likely very welcome for many Express Entry candidates who are in Canada and not eligible for any of Canada’s category-based rounds.
We also received a fascinating insight into how quickly candidates are joining the Express Entry pool based on this week’s data. Between July 30 and July 31, at least 781 eligible candidates entered the Express Entry pool. While this is only a snapshot into one day, this increase shows why the competition is so high right now.
We’re delighted to see IRCC conducting regular draws targeting in-Canada candidates. We are now into our seventh week of IRCC completing program-specific draws every other week (PNP or both PNP and CEC each time). And we recently predicted in our webinar that IRCC would likely continue this trend for the coming months. We also suggested that CEC candidates should aim for scores above 500, since we aren’t sure the CRS will drop much lower for this program.
In addition to leading the board for the number of draws, July 2024 has seen the most invitations issued for any month in 2024.
Here are the monthly totals so far:
January: 3,280
February 16,110
March: 7,305
April: 9,275
May: 5,985
June: 1,499
July: 25,125.
While the high numbers of invitations is generally good news for Express Entry candidates, this could result in extended processing delays for applicants who received an ITA.

Comparisons to Previous Draws
Compared to the previous draw on July 17, 2024, where 6,300 invitations were issued with a cutoff score of 515, today’s draw shows a slight decrease in the number of invitations and a marginal drop in the cutoff score by 5 points. This means that there has been a small decrease in the competition in the pool for Canadian Experience Class candidates.
We are consistently seeing relatively large draws for CEC, compared to the PNP rounds.
Most recent CEC draws:
- July 31, 2024: 5,000 invitations
- July 17, 2024: 6,300 invitations
- May 31, 2024: 3,000 invitations
Most recent PNP draws:
- July 30: 964 invitations
- July 16: 1,391 invitations
- July 2: 920 invitations.
